Ken Innes Perpetual Award

  • On behalf of the Mine Electrical Safety Association (MESA) we are pleased to announce the calling for nominations for the Ken Innes Perpetual Award.

    A stalwart of electrical safety in the Queensland Mining Industry, Ken Innes, passed away on 31/05/2014. Ken was a widely respected industry leader in his field and was a past chairman of the Mine Electrical Safety Association.

    In celebration of his life and of his many achievements the Innes family has initiated the Ken Innes Perpetual Award for final year electrical apprentices. This award will be presented to a final year electrical apprentice working in the Queensland mining industry who displays excellence in both academic and trade fields.

    Applications in writing are invited from mine operators, contractors, service providers and equipment manufacturers associated with the mining industry who wish to nominate a final year electrical apprentice or has completed his or her electrical apprenticeship in the past 12 months (at the time of the submission) and is currently working in the mining industry.

    The applications need to detail why the nominated person should be considered for the award. Evaluation of the submissions will look at what they have achieved in the area of safety, academia, on-site work practices and behaviours.

    Nominations close on Friday June 2nd 2017.

    To assist in the evaluation of the nomination, please provide any supporting documentation that may be relevant.

    The award will be presented to winner at the dinner associated with the Mining Electrical Safety Association Conference to be held in Brisbane on Tuesday 11th July.
    Attendance of the winner at the dinner is preferred.
